Date: Sun, 17 Jan 1993 13:45:00 +0000 Message-ID: <9301171343.aa08905@demon.demon.co.uk> Sender: usenet@demon.co.uk Lines: 30 Hi I'm thinking of buying a MicroVAX II that's about to be decommissioned here. It's running VMS 5.4 and has a TK50 drive, internal and external HD and an ethernet board. Is there a PD Unix that I can FTP to run on the MicroVAX? (BSD NET/2 perhaps?) Please email details of FTP sites and I'll post a summary. Assuming there is a suitable Unix, how can I install it? Can I build the kernel under VMS (the MVax has GCC, another 6310 has DEC's C) and then create a file system on one of the Hard Disks?? Also, will the Unix support the terminal ports, ethernet board and TK50 etc without requiring additional device drivers? Could I keep VMS on one of the HDs and create a Unix boot disk on the other allowing me to boot from either at the monitor prompt? Any help in this matter is greatfully accepted!
