(I am relavtive new to BSD but now to UNIX) The swap partition is the as0b. The disklabel you are seeing is the label install created for you. The swap partition is around ~5MB. > > > >PROBLEM #2 I will start a compile, it will go on for a while and then >the machine will come to a halt. Above you asked if the swap partition was working. When the machine 'seems' to halt, stick your ear next to the box, and you should be able to here the disk going crazy. What is happening is that you are swapping the machine to death. :-(. I have this problem using the stock 5MB partition on a DEC 486-25pc with 8MB of memory and the stock 5MB swap partition running X while trying to recompile the kernel. The fix for this is to backup everything, and re-install 386BSD with real partitioning. Chris Demetriou posted instructions on how to do this when 0.1 was released. It should be on an archive site somewhere. Hope that helps, Nate -- osynw@terra.oscs.montana.edu | A hacker w/out a home. work: (406) 994-5991 | Keeper of the Unofficial 386BSD Bug Report home: (406) 586-0579 | Please send bugs and/or fixes you find.
