The swap partition is the as0b.  The disklabel you are seeing is the label
install created for you.  The swap partition is around ~5MB.

Above you asked if the swap partition was working.  When the machine 
'seems' to halt, stick your ear next to the box, and you should be able
to here the disk going crazy.  What is happening is that you are
swapping the machine to death. :-(.  I have this problem using the stock
5MB partition on a DEC 486-25pc with 8MB of memory and the stock 5MB
swap partition running X while trying to recompile the kernel.  The fix
for this is to backup everything, and re-install 386BSD with real
partitioning.  Chris Demetriou posted instructions on  how to do this
when 0.1 was released.  It should be on an archive site somewhere.
