Also make sure that you don't have flow control turned on on your modem
so that ^S and^Q cause it to lock up.  Also make sure you don't have
MNP turned on if you bought a modem from a manufacturer (not Microcomm)
that turns on flow control any time MNP is on regardless of the flow
control settings so that they don't have to spend the money on memory
to put in the modem (which is why such modems are less expensive).
