Summary: no cursor

I haven't seen this one in the newsgroup, the BUG list, or the FAQ,
so I guess I'll post.

My system only shows a cursor on the top line of the screen. When
that line is not active for input, there's no cursor. This adds
a certain adventure to otherwise mundane text editing. 8-)

I get a blinking block following a "clear" or when I first
invoke vi. Once I leave the top line though, bye bye cursor.
I haven't noticed any of the other video problems mentioned elsewhere.

I'm running a 486/33 with 4MB RAM and a Trident 9000 VGA card with 512K.

Can anyone offer a clue for me?

Thanks,

Eric Bushnell
