Yes my performance figures are low and I will always predict low figures. The reason is that I don't want to set high expectation on the net. I do have my own realistic estimate. For instance my 100k goal has been obtained :-) My generous source of information for 928 performance figures, prohibit me from posting his figures. So I am aware of what is a realistic performance figure for a working X server for the 928. As for the added speed, I am going to use it for 3D drawings and generating movies. Yes, I know that we need 3D hardware support and I am furiously looking for it in the PC arena. Watch Babylon 5 or Deep Space 9, the special effects were created with amigas/videotoaster connected in a network. About the ramdac issues lets see what the VGA manufacturers come up with, who knows they may surprise us! On the performance side, the 805 and 801 issues have taught me the DRAM interface can play a very important issue with respect to performance. What I mean is that there are 801 cards with different performance characteristics, perhaps due to their RAM interface. Yes, the p9000 is a gpx engine in fact the same chip is sold for suns and PCs but with different bus interfaces. Pardon me I have a few movie clips to make now :-) Amancio -- This message brought to you by the letters X and S and the number 3 Amancio Hasty | Home: (415) 495-3046 | ftp-site depository of all my work: e-mail hasty@netcom.com | sunvis.rtpnc.epa.gov:/pub/386bsd/incoming
