Message-ID: <16137@lupine.ncd.com> Date: 29 Jan 93 19:39:57 GMT Sender: news@NCD.COM Organization: Network Computing Devices, Mt. View, CA, USA Lines: 28 Nntp-Posting-Host: grant I just downgraded my 386BSD PC from VGA color to a straight monochrome adapater and monitor, with no changes at all to the operating system. When I booted with this configuration, the system came up but none of the kernel boot messages were readable (i.e. black on black!) So there were blank lines on the screen where the boot messages where supposed to be. The echos from /etc/rc came up fine, and I could log in and use the system no problem. When I halted, the kernel "hit any key to reboot" message was invisible. My version is 0.1 + patchkit 0.1 (no enhanced console driver, no SCSI stuff) I will try to install patchkit 0.2 tonight, but it may take some time since I have made some modifications to the networking code. It's a shame that 0.2 can't simply be layered on 0.1. In fact I'm tempted to rm -r the src01 stuff, reinstall src01 then apply patchkit-0.2. Thoughts anyone (about the mono adaptor, that is, or the 0.2 upgrade)? Would one of the enhanced console drivers help (is there one in patchkit-0.2?)
