Date: 1 Feb 1993 02:47:50 GMT Organization: University of Michigan ITD Consulting and Support Services Lines: 21 Distribution: world Message-ID: <1ki30mINN7j0@stimpy.css.itd.umich.edu> NNTP-Posting-Host: nosegoblin.css.itd.umich.edu On startup, I get "kvm_mkdb put: input/output error" If I delete /var/run/kvm_386bsd.tmp and run kvm_mkdb again, it core dumps. This system (ISA 486sx-33) is known good with 386BSD, but the hard drive is new to me. I have been blocking out bad sectors, but now it fsck's fine and I think I have tracked down most of them. After doing that I installed a new kernel (386BSD 0.1 with beta 1.0 patchlevel and NFS) but that didn't make any difference. Also, /sbin/shutdown flashes "Bus Error" right before it reboots (which it does successfully). Any ideas on where I should be looking? I have reinstalled kvm_mkdb off of my other 386BSD system (ISA 386dx-40) without it making any difference. kvm_mkdb works fine on that system. Email would be appreciated. Paul
