Message-ID: <78270@apple.apple.COM> Date: 4 Feb 93 18:16:57 GMT Organization: Apple Computer Inc, Cupertino, CA Lines: 30 I finially decided to backup my 386bsd system. I have a WangTec 1/4" tape drive and I know the unit works, as I backed up my MD-DOS files. The unit is set for port 0x300 and int 5 with dma 1. The controller is made be Everex. I first tried "(cd /; find ./ -depth -print | cpio -o > /dev/rwt0)" and things appeared to be working. I have 90Mb of used disk space and I know it shouldn't take four hours, but I continued to let cpio run. I decided to interrupt the cpio and check the files that were on the tape. Surprize!! No files. I then tried tar with a few files. Again when I read the tape, the files were not there, or at least not readable. Questions: Have missed any patches to wt.c ? Does wt.c support Everex's Controller ? If not, which controller does it support ? I would really like to have a backup, and I don't have 90+ floppies to do it. So, any information, suggestions or comments are welcome. Thanks, markg -- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What I write is mine for you to read.
