To answer that question you have to tell us with exactly what unix you
expect binary compatiblity. On the other hand, 386BSD is not binary
compatible with any of the other Unixen for the Intel 386 architecture.

Sure you can. That requires only source compatiblity. It requires some
work sometimes, though.
