When there was something wrong with fsck, on booting, the machine justs reboots and starts over. Ok, fine. However, a shell pops up just before the reboot, which isn't a big thing, but... After a failed /etc/rc, the init calls pause, but when something ends this pause, init gets on and unnecessarily forks a shell to console.
