Well, in a sense it is binary compatible with unix - itself. 386BSD
_is_ an implementation of unix (and a good one for the price - even
including the cost of downloading/floppies). No, it's not binary
compatible with other i386 based unix's. And, of course, it's not
(execution) binary compatible with non-i386 machines :)

On the 2nd point, you should be able to take stuff posted to c.s.u and
compile it (maybe with some tinkering - but since most stuff to c.s.u
works with no probs on BSD derived systems, there are less porting
problems than say to a sysv/bsd mix (which I'm also familiar with a
few of)). In fact, most reasonably portable unix source will compile
and run OK on 386bsd.
