honest opinion: i'd much rather see research promoted,
and there are many people who are more likely to do research
on a system that they can turn "proprietary."
i've no problems with proprietary software that's superior...
that, and i don't like the GPL: software under it isn't
_free_ it's rather restricted; the GPL in actuality is one
of the most restrictive licenses i've seen. much rather go
with the "berkeley" license...
