One of the latest versions of 'traceroute' can be retrieved via anonymous ftp from machine 'ftp.nikhef.nl' [192.16.199.1] in the directory '/pub/network' as 'traceroute.tar.Z' . New features include optional ttl reporting, and use of the loose source routing facility to show routes between arbitrary destinations. It has been adapted for use on those platforms which do not support IPPROTO_RAW manipulation, such as HP-UX. For those who already have a copy: the current version is 930211. > But for now, please do us a favor: If you are going to reccomend a > piece of software, please tell us if its BERKELEY-esq. This 'traceroute' is running on the following platforms: HP/hpux, SGI/irix, IBM/aix, SUN/sunos, DEC/ultrix, Apollo/domain No kernel modifications are needed on these systems using recent operating system releases.
