Message-ID: <9302146190@genesis.nred.ma.us> Date: 14 Feb 93 07:58:14 GMT Organization: Genesis Public Access Minix +1 508 664 0149 Lines: 29 G'day. I was wondering if anyone has made any progress on a driver for those cheapo QIC-80 tape drives. I have a Colorado Jumbo 250 attached to my existing floppy controller. I've already started writing my own driver, but if someone has already done it, I'd sure like to hear from you. I hate spare wheels. :-) If not, maybe I can at least get a suggestion. The tape drive basically takes over your floppy controller, disabling the existing two floppy drives. What is the preferred way to represent this in a config file? For now I just added an entry "tape ft0 drive 2 at fd0" right after the two floppy drive entries. With this method, the tape drive becomes a new minor device on the floppy major. The thing I don't like about this method, is that for one, I'm stuck with the floppy block and character dev entries. The other is that when the tape is active, I have to bounce through all the floppy vectors to get to my tape driver. This to me seems kind of sloppy. In fact, I don't really see any clean way of going about it. Any hints would be appreciated. -Steve -- Steve Gerakines | steve2@genesis.nred.ma.us | "I have a three user 386BSD TV license." - me +1 (508)664-0149 |
