It is also possible to get the information about bad sectors location by dd'ing off rwd0d with a modified kernel and using this information for bad144 -v -a -c wd0 [sectors]. This information is kept in place nicely across re-boots, and both bad144 and disklabel are able to find their respective information and display it nicely in human-readable form. However, dd'ing off wd0c or newfs'ing wd0a (or wd0h, for that matter) keep complaining corrupted bad block information. Removing the "badsect" flag from the disklabel isn't really helpful, either. In other words, what appears to be correct re-vectoring information is just ignored. This is getting to an annoying stage, so we'd be really grateful for useful hints. BTW We've seen it work before on a WD-1007 with the same type of drive, and it does work indeed with that type of drive on a wd-1009.
