Help ! Message-ID: <1lonuj$ce@tricky.wft.stack.urc.tue.nl> Date: 15 Feb 93 18:38:11 GMT Organization: Eindhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands Lines: 34 NNTP-Posting-Host: shark.wft.stack.urc.tue.nl Ditribution: world X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.1 PL8] Hi, any help on the following people ????? I have installed (binaries) of X386. But ........It reboots ! I editted the "Xconfig" file such that it only includes the simplest mode ("640x480"), which has entries with clock frequencies 25 and 31 KHZ. I type "xinit". The screen does something weard, en then it returns to the normal shell display. Only the prompt isn't there and it *reboots* itself. This is my congiguration: 486 Intel (really !), 8 Mb Memory. Seagate harddisk, 245 Mb, (if relevant) SVGA Monitor (brand : EMC) AT 4000 Video Card. There are no error messages. 16 clock frequencies are recognized by "xinit", among them is 25 Mhz. Is 16 clocks normal ? Oh yeah ..., one final remark if it is any help .... I have a "mode" indicator on my Monitor. There are 2 modes: 1. one for 31.5 Khz input signals, and 2. the other for 31.5 - 40 Khz. inputs (according to the manual !!). When it run "xinit" the mode (initially mode 1) switches to mode 2 during the time the monitor acts weard. (I think it should stay mode_1 because isn't it a 25 Khz. input signal ?) Please, post a reaction to News if you like BUT definitely Email me too since the bloody connection doesn't work half the time. Tilman Kolks at IMEC , Belgium kolks@imec.be
