A friend of mine has set up a boot floppy that will boot a machine using nfs - it's quite a hack though - I'm not sure how well it worked in the end - I think we've abandoned that approach for doing a quick install. To copy files over nfs, use cpio rather than cp. For reinstalling, if you have the luxury of some space on another machine, make cpio archives of your current setup, store them on the other machine. After you've partitioned your disk, and start reinstalling, instead of loading the bindist, load your own cpio archives. (That's the method I used to install a new system yesterday, because I wanted to get all of the patches binaries.) Good luck. PS - 20-25M of swap space seems to be the generally accepted amount.
