Hissam) Subject: xdm for XFree86 1.2 & crypt Message-ID: <1993Feb22.032352.33872@source.asset.com> Date: Mon, 22 Feb 1993 03:23:52 GMT Organization: Asset Source for Software Engineering Technology Lines: 30 386bsd'ers in trying out xdm for XFree 1.2, it would not accept my password as valid and I AM using dummy passwords, running strings(1) on xdm yields: farpoint:hissam->95 strings /usr/bin/X11/xdm.outoftheway | grep -i crypt @(#)crypt.c 5.11 (Berkeley) 6/25/91 Where as running strings(1) on a silly C program that links in crypt(3) from libc.a yields: farpoint:hissam->94 strings cr | grep -i crypt Crypt not present in system and sure enough when the silly program is run it prints out the message as one might expect. I think xdm is compiled with crypt.c as opposed as crypt_dummy.c README.386bsd from XFree86 1.2 directory on agate.berkeley.edu says that this is the other way around. can anyone verify or contradict my suspicion? thanks scott hissam@cards.com
