The system has 4 MB RAM, a Trident SVGA 1 MB board, a 200 MB IDE hard drive, DOS installed on a 45 MB partition, and what I have installed of 386bsd on the other. So far, the kernel panicked a few time.. one instance, it said: mode 40755, inum 1920, fs = /mnt, panic ialloc, dup alloc. I installed (I think, using init. Not enough tools up yet to check anything yet!) the allocation tables for 386bsd. Then, I believe it was newfs or some related utility on the dist.fs's install utility that said it couldn't mknod any of the /dev files. But then, I tried mount /dev/wd0a /mnt, and made /mnt/usr. I have a question: what is the exact syntax of the command to: mount the new /usr partition under /mnt/usr. I can't seem to do this properly. Then, I: cd / ls | cpio -pdalmu /mnt (and the like for the other directories). Howevver, only /mnt has files in it, and /usr has the directories, but no files in the subdirectories, even though I did that step to cpio 'em there. Now, I was wondering if mounting the /usr partition was crucial to ensure success of the later steps. Oh, BTW, I used the fixit.fs disk to do this whole thing, as install bombed on the dist.fs disk. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong or missing out on? Many thanks! --Dan ..sig broken -> direct posts to this newsgroup or email to dsf5454@ritvax.isc.rit.edu ....God is REAL unless declared an INTEGER. ;-)
