actually, to quote the "newsgroups" file lines, as derived from
the charters of the groups:
comp.os.386bsd.announce Announcements relating to the 386bsd operating system. (Moderated)
comp.os.386bsd.apps Applications which run under 386bsd.
comp.os.386bsd.bugs Bugs and fixes for the 386bsd OS and its clients.
comp.os.386bsd.development Working on 386bsd internals.
comp.os.386bsd.questions General questions about 386bsd.
comp.os.386bsd.misc General aspects of 386bsd not covered by other groups.
note that .questions is for "General questions about 386bsd" --
these include questions about comparisons between 386bsd and *any*
other operating systems out there, including, say, BSD/386.
..misc can certainly contain miscellaneous comments and comparisons
of the above-mentioned type.
some people could consider that lack of binary compatibility w/
other (even commercial) OSs is a bug -- and they can whine
about it (perhaps only to be ignored) in .bugs.
people working on, e.g. binary compatibility, would probably be
more than welcome to post on .development,
and if somebody, say, did a iBCS compatibility package,
and wanted to post an announcement on .announce, i'd certainly
"Approve" it.
oh yeah, one other thing:
the 386bsd groups are not only intended for the *developers*
of 386bsd, but are also intended for *users* of 386bsd.
users' concerns may very well be exactly the opposite
of developers' (e.g. users may want a stable release),
but belong in the comp.os.386bsd.* groups as well.
followups to .misc; political rhetoric of any form does *not* belong
in .questions.
