You need the latest 'fixed_for_slip' ZyXEL microcode, and be sure
you understand all the subtle use/reuse of DS700 modem leads. Are you
doing RTS/CTS (really RTR/CTS - ReadyToReceive/etc) flow control correctly?

Why not run at 57.6? The DS700 will actually go to 115.2kb but the ZyXEL won't.

See all the files in the DS700 directory at ftp.camb.com. 
The ZyXEL binaries for SLIP in the ZYXEL directory may not be the latest,
but are the latest I have seen.
