: Nope, I don't have a WD card, but I understand there are others out there.

Will look for it... this bug is particularly serious (IMO). FTP works
fine...

I realize that. I'm frankly not quite sure if PS/2 mice do or not.
The dell has a mini din plug for its factory-shipped mouse (says
microsoft on it) but Dell tells me it is a PS/2 mouse.

I tried using the switch and changing Xconfig to logitech (and twiddling
the various parameters in Xconfig) without luck. So, it is back to
microsoft mode... :|

....

New bugs:

Any idea how to fix the com1 silo overflow problem I am having?

The trap 6 problem is a REAL problem. I did back out patch00060
but that didn't help. I've hand modified the #include files for
HUGE, etc., and that doesn't help. Why it is a big problem is that
I can't make everything because I get the trap 6 - particularly
when recompiling the g++ library and awk. The make didn't get past
either of those, and I got tired of making the universe by hand -
cd dir ; make ; make install ; make clean ; cd ..

cheers.
