Message-ID: <rcpt.730581552@rwb.urc.tue.nl> Date: 24 Feb 93 19:19:12 GMT Sender: root@tuegate.tue.nl Reply-To: rcpt@urc.tue.nl Lines: 40 The ET4000 board in our 486DX33 box does provide a 72MHz clock in order to achieve a 70 Hz refresh rate for 1024x768 mode. The manual explains how to select this frequency with VMODE.EXE an MSDOS utility (mode 0x38). If I startup `startx' and write its output into a file I don't see this 72MHz clock. Does this mean I can't select this clock with XFree1.2? I also get a strange error and some Cannot execute KBDFORCEASCII ioctl: Inappropriate ioctl for device Hoping on some help! --Piet ------------------- startx.log --------------- XFree86 Version 1.2 / X Window System (protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 5000) Configured drivers: VGA256 (256 colour SVGA): et4000, et3000, pvga1, gvga, ati, tvga8900c, tvga9000 Mouse: type: MouseSystems, device: /dev/com02, baudrate: 1200 FontPath set to "/usr/X386/lib/X11/fonts/misc/,/usr/X386/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/,/usr/X386/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo/,/usr/X386/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi/" VGA256: et4000 (mem: 1024k numclocks: 16) VGA256: clocks: 25.2 28.3 32.5 36.2 40.0 44.9 50.4 65.0 VGA256: clocks: 12.6 14.2 16.3 18.1 20.0 22.5 0.0 0.0 VGA256: Mode "936x702": mode clock = 65.0, clock used = 65.0 VGA256: Mode "1024x768": mode clock = 65.0, clock used = 65.0 VGA256: Mode "800x600": mode clock = 40.0, clock used = 40.0 VGA256: Mode "640x480": mode clock = 25.0, clock used = 25.2 VGA256: Virtual resolution set to 1024x768 VGA256: SpeedUp mode selected (Flags=0x3f) twm: unable to find bitmap "xterm.bm" waiting for X server to shut down xterm: fatal IO error 32 (Broken pipe) or KillClient on X server ":0.0" Cannot execute KBDFORCEASCII ioctl: Inappropriate ioctl for device --------------- end startx.log ---------------------
