No! If I read this question properly one PC has 386BSD and the other has
MS-DROS - hence the use of mwrite.

If that is the case then just format the floppy under MS-DROS ( or DR-DONT(tm) )
and mwrite should work fine. This assumes that the mtools config file is ok.
