In fact, I think this ^^^^^^^^^^^^ >is a must. ^^^^^^^^^^^ Actually, you don't need to change your ident at all. Ident is used to identify the kernel, and for specific code you have compiled in that is different from normal machines. For example, I have a really dumb SCSI tape drive that blows up with Julian's drivers. (Drive's fault, not Julian's) I made an #ifdef NATEPC around my fixes to the driver, so that the only time that gets compiled in is when NATEPC is defined.
