Its a more or less generic 486/33 8MB ram, 2 Maxtor 7120 AT IDE drives and an integrated Western Digital 90C31 display adapter. Now, I copied XFree86-1.2 and the kernel with pccons support from agate. First of all, as soon as I rebooted with the new kernel, (no X yet) I had a dead keyboard. Infact I have to press the reset button about 7-8 times before I can boot up with a live keyboard. My second problem is X not running. When I run xinit >& file, it hangs and after rebooting about 10 times, I get to see the following message : Something about fonts installed. ...microsoft mouse on /dev/com1 .... configured vga drivers blah blah.. and then finally: None of the configured drivers were found. Oh yes and another thing. The x386install added vga to /etc/ttys which prevented me (root) from logging in. Why ? Saad -- Saad
