Message-ID: <1993Mar1.035224.12136@netcom.com> Keywords: scsi, 1742A, configuration, error Organization: Netcom - Online Communication Services (408 241-9760 guest) Date: Mon, 1 Mar 1993 03:52:24 GMT Lines: 35 I'm trying to install 386bsd on a NICE 486/50 16MB eisa w/ a 1742A controller and a scsi disk at address 0 or 1. The stock disk.fs is hopeless as it gets scsi sense errors. The fixit.1742 boots and recognizes the disk as sd0 but an attempt to disklabel the drive results in a "drive not configured" error. I wrote a quick and dirty disktab for the disk but it didn't help. I've made the required device files /dev/[r]sd0[abcd] at the major/minor numbers indicated in the MAKEDEV included with julian's driver. Major 4 and 13. Minor 0-7. I've also mounted the dist.fs on the second floppy drive and attempted to use the install program on that disk. Still no luck. I also get the error "drive not configured". I was able to use (format and partition) the drive under dos as drive C/D depending on the disk scsi address. The supplied device drivers for dos work fine. This is the only hard disk/scsi device (other than the 1742A) currently in the system. The controller is configured in standard mode. Yes I went through the eisa configuration utilities. Any ideas/help would be appreciated. tnx ~Don (duncan@zycad.com) -------- -- duncan@zycad.com (Donald Duncan)
