The above message is a "novelty" from the new patchkit, and it means that the "wd" driver tried to find an MFM, RLL, IDE, ESDI drive and didn't find one, neither for the first nor second disk. If you have an SCSI disk or an CDROM with a proper filesystem, you can ignore this message. No panic! But if you do have a non SCSI hard disk, you are in real trouble now. Amusingly enough, my system gives this message, but the assumption that everything is "ok" seems to be correct. My set-up: 386-40 No Name Motherboard 4 meg Ram 85 Meg WDC A280 (Caviar 80) Drive No name IDE controller with 2 serial 1 parallel 1 game... (1 com port disabled because of next item) Quicktel 2400 baud internal modem. Mono Card (No kidding) 4107A Tektronix Graphics Terminal Of course it is hell trying to do rebuilds, but i have installed all the kernel patches from patchkit 2.0 with the exception of patches having to deal with ethernet cards or scsi drivers, since I have neither. I am wildly curious as to why it gives me that message though... -- Jesus saves sinners... /****************************************************************************\ ==============David Charles Todd, tHE mAN wITH tHREE fIRST nAMES============== I/O Error: core dumped. \*************************hacksaw@headcheese.daa.uc.edu**********************/ ...in a shoebox in his mother's attic.
