What happens with this tool if you want to extract a file out of the middle
of the save set?

The tool I use is a wrapper around cpio, that breaks the input file list into
chunks of the right size and runs them onto each disk in turn. I'll be running
backups this weekend, so I guess I'll have it beaten into shape to post by the
time I'm finished.
