Equip., Moscow, Russia Date: Thu, 4 Mar 1993 19:17:54 GMT Lines: 32 Hello All, I've got version 0.1 on "The InfoMagic CD-ROM" and tried to install it on ST3120 IDE drive (81 Mb for 386BSD, 21 for DOS). To do it, I've got the very drive and connected it to a machine with LAN access (EtherNet card COMPEX/ENET with WD8003C, WDplus and NE-1000/2000 emulation) in WD8003C mode, IRQ 2(9), I/O 280h, FRAME D000h. The card has been detected but ifconfig caused freezing. It seems to be already discussed. Well, switched to NE-2000 mode and it worked (oh these "startart"s - 5 Kb/s, but this feature is known too). The system has been successfully installed and NFS has been tested as well (though it wasn't necessary), i.e. many reboots from HD have been done. After that I've picked the drive and reconnected it to my machine (386SX/25, 2Mb RAM). And you know what? It freezes immediately after the BIOS's beep indicating the start of booting process. But it does boot from floppy despite the shortage of memory and works well with HD (e.g. mount /dev/wd0a /mnt; /mnt/usr/sbin/chroot /mnt; and it looks like working). Is it a subtle bug in wdboot/bootwd? If yes and it is already known, where can I get the patch; and if not what is the cause of such a strange behavior? Thanks in advance, -- Leonid A.
