XBSD8514 is not yet supported in the XFree86-1.2 package, so it
depends on
the author of the program (say the changes he has made vs. the
standard
Xserver) whether there is support for codrv or not. I didn't hear
anything
about codrv support in ports for fast video boards yet, so I think it
is not
yet covered. Future official releases of XFree86 might integrate
8514 based cards.
If X386mono complains about not finding /dev/kbd, there is evidence
that the
*device* (not the driver itself) is missing. With the prebuilt
kernels,
you have to make additional devices:
rm -f /dev/kbd /dev/vga
mknod /dev/kbd c 15 0
mknod /dev/kbd c 15 128
(with an own kernel the major number may differ, depending on in
which
slot in conf.c you placed the codrv entry.
This should help you up to the next error messages of the XServer :-)
