If you have the src01 distribution and the bin01 distribution, and you haven't changed any files locally, NO PATCHES IN THE OFFICIAL PATCHKIT WILL FAIL. If you don't have the src01 distribution, then how can one expect to fix the kernel. The patchkit people can't be expected to deal with non-standard distributions, so they deal with the most common denominator. The reason the patchkit contains more than kernel fixes is because more than the kernel has bugs. For example, the library contains bugs, which in turn affect the kernel. And the include files have bugs, which I suppose one could argue affect the kernel.
