I have a DEC 486DX50 (not dx2) EISA with dual 1740's and it's running like a champ. I assume you're trying to do the initial install, in which case you're stuck, the dist.fs floppy doesn't have support for the 1740, only the 1542. And it still won't work right if you put the board in standard mode either. Talk to nate@cs.montana.edu, I tested some new boot floppies for him that will boot my machine with both adaptect in enhanced mode, he's planning on making them available soon. You will have the keyboard controller problem however, you will have to bounce on the numlock key when booting, otherwise things will freeze. Then install the src, and put in the patchkit, and put in patch 83, which will fix the problem nicely. -- Jaye Mathisen, COE Systems Manager (406) 994-4780 410 Roberts Hall,Dept. of Computer Science Montana State University,Bozeman MT 59717 osyjm@cs.montana.edu
