I use 386bsd & sendmail to move mail via uucp on a daily basis.  I had to
recompile rmail and Taylor uucp (primarily to turn on debugging).  The most
dificult part was getting the sendmail.cf right.  The ease program is
highly recommended.

As far as stability goes, I went to Montreal a week or so ago and while I was
gone, it faithfully sent out the "vacation" messages.
