If I log on via telnet/rlogin from another machine utmp does not seem to get updated. If I log on via console or 'com01' or log on from remote and then telnet to my machine it works fine. The funny thing is that it was working fine, and now does not. The user shows up no problem in "wtmp" but whn I do "users", "who" or "w" they do not show up as being logged on. I can do a "ps" and see that they are indeed on by looking for their login shell. Has anyone had this problem? I tried zeroing 'utmp' & deleteing it, but it recreates it no problem, but still same problem. Any assistance would be appreciated. --> Ted | Ted Wisniewski INET: ted@oz.plymouth.edu | | Academic Computing or | | Plymouth State College tedw@psc.plymouth.edu | | Plymouth NH, 03264 |
