I made a new kernel, which boots with no problem. However, both in the unpatched and patched versions, there is a problem enabling my com2 for logins. I make the proper entries in /etc/ttys for a T19200, dialup, and on, but when I call the modem line the modem won't even respond with a carrier tone. This is *extremely* weird. The port and modem work fine under coherent 4.0, so I know it's not hardware. If this problem is a known quantity, or if anyone has a suggestion, please respond via email. Many thanks. ---- michael hamilton mkh@pacific.jpl.nasa.gov / oceanography from space
