I saw this same note a while ago and I'd like to correct some misconceptions here. First, there is no extra cost to go from "real old" versions of a product to the current version. There is one update license fee regardless of what ver- sion you're coming from. Second, the upgrade costs vary depending on the CPU model involved. The only VAX I could find with a 32-user update license cost greater than $9,999 was the VAX 9000-420 at $13,500 - every other supported VAX was less than $10,000. In your particular case, it appears that you would need to order: QL-VEYAP-YG - MicroVAX 2000 32-user update license at $990 QA-VEYAB-H5 - Ultrix/VAX V4.3 media and doc on TK50 at $3240 As you may be aware, DEC is having a 50% off sale to "qualifying educational institutions" until July 1st, 1993. That puts your total cost at (990+3240)/2, or $2115. I believe that's less than the cost of a 4.4BSD distribution. Feel free to confirm these numbers with your DEC sales rep, or call 1-800- DIGITAL and ask for the "add-on and consulting" people.
