This is something which must be fixed by the XFree86 people. (Provide sufficient information there). This looks like a misdetection of the board and therefore improper restoration of font/text page. I had fixed the same effect for the ET3000; the reason was that the display segment register was restored after restoring font/text, so they were reloaded into the wrong page. It might be a similar effect here.
