I believe this is a general problem with doing DMA on an ISA bus, I'm not absolutly certain on that however -- something to do with 24 bit addresses? (2^24==16777216). There has recently been discussion on this topic in the developemnet ( or was it bugs ) newsgroup group. It sounds like some people are working on a solution. > >If you only have IDE or ESDI drives, I don't think there are any problems. >I ran mine for a few days off an IDE drive while getting the SCSI stuff >straightened out, and don't remember having any problems. From my understanding, the EISA bus does not have such a problem, so it wouldn't matter what type of drive you use. Once again, I'm no authority on this subject -- just passing on what I've been told. As far as I know, there is no way to limit the amount of memory that 386bsd uses. The better solution is to find a way to address the memory, or by an EISA bus machine. > >-- > Jaye Mathisen, COE Systems Manager (406) 994-4780 > 410 Roberts Hall,Dept. of Computer Science > Montana State University,Bozeman MT 59717 osyjm@cs.montana.edu -- ============================================================ Bob Crowe Voice: (619) 931-2695 Pre-Press Technologies.
