I've been using 386bsd for a while now, and had been using my modem on com1 to call up places. Never had a problem. To install XFree86 I moved my modem to com2 and put a mouse on com1. To make tip work with the new setup, I edited the /etc/remote file and put an entry for com2 in. But now it seems that com2 is permanently stuck in 7 bit mode. I've read the man pages for stty a zillion times and have tried all the flags, but I can't pull com2 into 8 bits. What should I do? Thanks. -sl
