(I don't read this group, so please no flames)

I am a 486 user with 4M RAM who is sick of DOS,
Windows, etc. (gee that's hard to do) I know
absolutely nothing about what Unix-like OS's
there are out there other than the names Linux
and BSD (the names are all I know). Is there a
free (or very close to it) OS based on UNIX that
can also do X Windows and still run my DOS apps?
I would like to take advantage of multi-tasking
and hopefully something similar to ftp, but I
won't be doing any local networking at all (well
maybe a little if I get the opportunity..) What
do you think I should use? BTW, if this is FAQ,
please just point me in the right direction, I
didn't see an FAQ so I just asked. Please E-mail
all responses to:

Thanks,
