Mead) Newsgroups: comp.os.386bsd.questions Subject: crypt() problems and patchkit 0.2.2 problems Summary: kernel too big to load? dummy_crypt.c sneaking in? Message-ID: <12691@vtserf.cc.vt.edu> Date: 28 Mar 93 19:51:41 GMT Sender: news@vtserf.cc.vt.edu Organization: Institute of Yesterday Lines: 21 The other day I attempted to bring my kernel up to date with patchkit 0.2.2, thinking that it would work....but it didn't. The resulting kernel was too large to load, or so the system told me. But the file size was only 100 bytes larger than the kernel I have from patchkit 0.2.1 (glad I backed it up into 386bsd.old). BUH!?! So I removed all patches but 1 - 82 ... and it still said the same thing...so I am running on an old kernel and wish to figure out why the new one is too large....anyone have any suggestions? Also when I installed crypt per the instructions in /usr/386bsd.errata/crypt.instructions, I found that it doesn't work...it appears to be running the code from dummy_crypt.c even after I modded the Makefile.inc, and ideas? Thanks! Matt
