The problem that yopu encount is following.
$ configure i386-bsd
$ make

Stop.
In my case, the purpose of installing gcc-2.3.3 is compiling XFree86-1.2
X server, I give up full installation of gcc-2.3.3, and make libgcc.a by
$ make libgcc.a
I will also appreciate if someone tell me why.
