I have just completed a new set of installation floppies for 386bsd and I think they may be useful to others. Basically, what makes them different from 'Tiny 386bsd' (aside from being on 2 floppies instead of one!) is the fact that the installation is a little more flexible. It is interactive and allows the user to specify partitions and swap size. Also, the kernel supplied has a couple of 'additions'; it asks if you want to boot single user or not and asks if you want a memory dump on panics, etc. (no longer automagically dumps to an area you may not want it to, like the boot blocks!8-O). Additionally the kernel has cgd's multi-port com code and the lpt-patch.haug (plus my own fix for my printer) and the Xserver code for XFree86. Sorry, no patch kits installed. Aside from these exceptions, this installation leaves you in essentially the same shape after installing as 'Tiny' does. DISCLAIMER: As I only have 2 machines, I've only verified the install on them. One is a 486 DX50 clone, the other a NEC 386 SX Plus 16Mhz. It is set up for SCSI installation, but as I have no SCSI disks (only a tape), I have not checked that functionality. Now, for my question. Where can I put these floppy disk images for general availability? agate? How? thx, Dave S.
