I've tried setting the io memsize to 8k and setting the io memory to various places to avoid the 16bit vs 8bit restriction, but to no avail. So, the obvious solution seems to be (for normal re-boot cycles; not fror crashes) to re-set the card to 8bit mode before exiting the kernel. Unfortunately, I don't know whether it can be done (or is that a one-way command ?) nor do I know how or where to place the appropriate commands. Comments ? Patches ? (please ?!) -Bernard
