(a) Which OS should be obtained first, DOS or BSD? BSD386 ofcourse. First get the INSTALL.NOTES with another unix machine, read this. Then download the installation floppy, and take this with you to the PC shop. Ask for a machine that runs this floppy. See inst.notes for supported HW and settings. (b) Could I use DOS to download the UNIX shareware. If not, How the shareware can be download, and be installed on the PC. No the DIST.FS floppy with an supported networkcard (i.e. NE2000) is enough Hook your empty machine to the network, boot from the downloaded floppy, and ftp the whole os to your machine. See inst.notes. (c) Is the 386BSD 0.1 supporting SLIP. Yes. /\ -( )-/##--------------------------------------------------------------------- }{/ ## One has to look out -- Overschie ------------------------------ .====. for engineers- they -- Reinier Kleipool ---------------------- | [] | begin with sewing machi- -- Mail ----------------------------------- | | nes and end up with the -- X400: C=nl A=400net P=hp O=hp S=Kleipool | | atomic bomb..... -- desk: Reinier Kleipool/ hpitcb/75 -- | [] | Marcel Pagnol -- unix: reink@hpuamsa.neth.hp.com -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
