Mead) Newsgroups: comp.os.386bsd.bugs Subject: Kernel STILL too large Date: 8 Apr 1993 01:13:55 GMT Organization: Institute of Yesterday Lines: 13 Distribution: world Message-ID: <1pvu8j$hnf@vtserf.cc.vt.edu> NNTP-Posting-Host: meadmc.async.vt.edu Summary: recompile with patches up to 109 and sys-cons Keywords: Boot Blocks Kernel sys-cons I ftp'd the sources for the new sys-cons driver and installed it as well as the rest of the patches in the 0.2.2 patchkit, up to 109, after which it jumps to 10000....the kernel turned out to be 474790. So I knew that it wouldn't load up with the standard boot procedure. So I installed Julian's bootblocks, but to no avail. It told me upon boot up that it couldn't fit the kernel into 640K with the bss.....it also said the only hope was to link for >1M ... could someone clue me in? Adthanksvance Matt
