I have a Compaq DeskPro 386/25 w/387 and an Adaptec 1542B SCSI controller.
I didn't have any problems installing from dist.fs and I can mount and examine
the root partition on the hard drive, as long as I boot from the floppy. If
I try to boot the HD directly I get a little 'c' or 'e' at the top of the screen,
then the usual boot messages, then it hangs right after 'changing root to as0a' or
something like that. Here are the remedies I've tried:
	1. got the 0.2.2 patched kernel from agate (unofficial/patch-kit.old)
actually I tried every kernel in that directory. Same story.

	2. I compared the boots on my dist.fs and those in pk-0.2.2 on agate.
they're the same. (has asboot or bootas changed?)

	3. I tried every combination of partition sizes, installing w/dos mbr
	   and without.

What I don't get is why should it work fine booting off the floppy and not off the
hard drive? As I said, when I boot off the floppy I'm able to mount and access
the hard drive...

I'd appreciate any suggestions, pointers to new kernels/boots or email from anyone
with a similar setup. Thanks.
