However, I got just the other day a fixed HST courier 9600 bps modem (works fine in DOS). Right now, I'm connected at 9600/ARQ/HST onto a Linux system for mail/news and it works OK. However, for downloading it is useless. rz will continuously give many eerrors per block, and IMHO I would be better off using it at 2400/ARQ. My system is a 386sx with a 16450. I was under the impression that with cgd's driver I didn't need a 16550. (I'm not doing anything else, so rz is got the machine to itself essentially.) Is it true? Can those with similar modems (HST preferred) give me some pointers as to improvee performncce? -- David E.
