 Here's my question...

How and where do I get BSD386? I just want to install it and see how it
all works. But thus far I've been reading this group for about a month and
have not seen an FAQ yet describing where to get the darned thing.

 So, I would comment:

Linux seems to have more users who want other users to use it to.

At least reading the Linux groups for a week you can find out what the
latest release is, where it is, and how to install it.

Not a flame, just a comment based on frustration.
